Few individuals have felt the crushing blows that have besieged David Ring since birth. He was born to lose. David was born with cerebral palsy. Orphaned at age 14, he was cast about from family to family with nowhere to call home. He endured constant pain, humiliating public ridicule and constant discouragement. Yet in the face of these seemingly insurmountable obstacles, David emerged not victimized, but victorious. Through his relationship with Jesus Christ, David learned self respect and an acceptance of his physical challenges.
As David spoke to the participants of the Nebraska Walk for Life, he focused on an individual’s need to conquer the personal challenges and adversities of life. He made people laugh and cry as they were amazed at his triumph over odds and moved to consider their own life. As one who has not been stifled by his physical limitations, he clearly stated his challenge to everyone, “I have cerebral palsy – what’s your problem?”

Pro-family leaders remarked about key issues of concern to Nebraska families. A top legislative priority for pro-family groups is to see Legislative Bill 700 passed. LB700 is a ban on human cloning for medical research and reproductive purposes. Passage of the measure will criminalize these practices including the technique known as somatic cell nuclear transfer.

Saturday, January 26th, 2008 thousands gathered for the 34th Annual Nebraska Walk For Life in Lincoln, the seat of Nebraska’s legislature. Each “Walk For Life” is a solemn event to mark the passing of another year of abortions taking the lives of the pre-born, but this event marked the thirty-fifth anniversary of the landmark Roe v. Wade decision in 1972.
Nebraska “Walk For Life”, sponsored by Nebraska Right To Life www.nebraskartl.org/ is a witness to the sanctity of human life. Walk For Life commenced on the steps of the Nebraska State Capitol in the shadow of a statue of the sixteenth President. Participants listened to pro-life speakers and legislators address the gathering and then walked eight blocks through downtown to the front steps of the University of Nebraska Student Union for the keynote address given by David Ring.
